Terms of Use

These terms apply to everyone who uses Blackburn Local (blackburnlocal.co.uk). By using the site, adding a listing, advertising a property or writing a review, you agree to them.

About the directory

Blackburn Local is a directory of local businesses and property. We check listings before they appear, but the details are supplied by businesses, advertisers and users, so we cannot guarantee that every detail is correct or up to date. Please confirm prices, opening hours and other details directly with the business or advertiser. We are not a party to any agreement between you and a business, seller or landlord.

Marketplace

  • You must be 18 or over to create an account.
  • Only post items you own and are allowed to sell, and describe them honestly. Follow the marketplace rules: no weapons, drugs, medicines, alcohol, tobacco or vapes, animals, fake or stolen goods, adult content or anything illegal.
  • Be polite in questions and messages. No abuse, harassment, spam or scams.
  • Blackburn Local is not part of any sale. Buyers and sellers deal with each other directly, and we do not check, hold or guarantee any item or payment.
  • We may remove adverts, questions or messages and suspend accounts that break these terms, and we will share information with the police when the law requires it.
  • To report an advert, use the "Report this advert" link on its page.

Business listings

  • You must own the business or have permission to list it, and the details must be accurate.
  • Listings must be for genuine businesses serving the local area and must not be misleading, offensive or unlawful.
  • We may edit, refuse or remove any listing at our discretion.

Property adverts

  • You must own the property or have permission to advertise it, and the price or rent, council tax band and (for sales) tenure must be correct.
  • Letting adverts must follow the law, including not refusing tenants because they have children or receive benefits, not asking for or accepting offers above the advertised rent, and not asking for more than one month's rent in advance.
  • Mark your advert as sold or let, or ask us to remove it, when it is no longer available.

Reviews

  • Reviews must be honest and based on your own real experience of the business.
  • Do not review your own business or a competitor, and do not post reviews in return for payment, discounts or gifts.
  • We publish both positive and negative genuine reviews. We may remove reviews that are fake, abusive, discriminatory, off-topic or unlawful.
